05/28/21 Update:

West Hills Family,

The Elders of West Hills once again wish you blessings as we share this promised follow-up covering COVID protocol updates for West Hills Kids and Youth.   In the two weeks since the general West Hills protocols were updated, the elders have prayed for God’s guidance on this matter, requested prayers from others, consulted with Ally and Thad, solicited input from families, analyzed data, reviewed policies of local churches & schools, and fully considered the wide array of comments and opinions provided to us by the church family.  This decision has weighed heavily on us as we sought to balance considerations for the health and safety of West Hills children and youth, opinions of their families, and quality of biblical instruction, all while seeking God’s will.  This was complicated by a lack of a clear path forward.  All possible decisions we considered seemed likely to result in a small number of families choosing to not participate in these ministries for the time being.  It is heartbreaking for us to know that regardless of the decision made, there may be some that stay away in the short term.  We love all of the West Hills Family and look forward to the day when all can gather again comfortably, worshipping and learning together.

The West Hills Elder council has unanimously agreed that effective this coming Sunday, May 30:

  • West Hills will no longer require the wearing of masks by the children and youth participating in WH Kids and Youth.  Mask usage for children and youth will be at the discretion of their families.

  • We ask and strongly encourage our unvaccinated volunteers to adhere to CDC recommendations by continuing to wear masks indoors when participating in WH Kids and Youth

  • Fully vaccinated volunteers and volunteers with a medical reason preventing the use of masks are not required to wear masks while participating in WH Kids and Youth.

  • We affirm those who prefer to wear masks and encourage them to continue to do so.

  • This update also applies to the West Hills Vacation Bible School, June 13-17.

We know some will be overjoyed as a result of this update while others may be disappointed.  We ask that all of our West Hills Family continue to love each other well, showing an overabundance of care and respect for all while remembering the words of Paul:

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called,  with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,  eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”  -Ephesians 4:1-3

In Christ,

The WH Elder Council
